FARMS
has celebrated Local Foods by working with the Schools to
serve Harvest Lunches. This initiative was adapted from the
Harvest Lunches created by Amanda Beal and Ron Adams in
Cumberland County, especially at the Gorham Schools, after
Karen visited with Amanda to learn about their pioneering
work.
Harvest Lunches are a special meal where each schools
tries to serve all, or most, of the items from local
farms. The kids, and often their parents, pitch in to
prepare the produce. Usually classrooms get in on the
act, as well, by doing special classes on local
farms.
See FARMS Files page for Harvest Lunch
Manual.
